Séverine Lobet studied chemistry at the National College of Chemical Engineering of Mulhouse (ENSCMu). In parallel with her chemical engineering studies, she obtained a Master in chemistry of the University of Haute Alsace, France.
In 2003, she joined the group of Prof. Raimund Dutzler where she completed her Ph.D. thesis on the crystallographic studies and functional analysis of a bacterial ClC transporter.
In 2007, she moved to the University of Bern to join the group of Prof. Bernhard Erni. There she paved the way for the crystallisation of the E.coli fructose transporter.
In 2010, she joined the teaching team of the Department of Biochemistry.
